The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) empowers outdoor communicators by promoting excellence in content creation, fostering business growth and connecting media professionals with industry leaders. We champion honest, responsible storytelling in traditional outdoor sports and conservation, while mentoring the next generation of media.
Part of POMA's commitment to the next generation includes offering college students a shot at the coveted POMA Intern position. This is an unpaid position but can be incorporated into a college schedule (most schools) for credits.
The POMA internship offers opportunities to work remote, gain valuable experience and network with the outdoor industry's most noted communications professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation: Write articles for the website, draft email newsletters and marketing copy; assist with design for digital and print materials
- Social Media Management: Draft social media posts, create accompanying graphics, schedule posts, engage with online communities, research best practices and monitor platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Campaign Support: Help plan and execute digital and traditional marketing campaigns
- Administrative Tasks: Data entry, online database management, respond to member inquiries, other duties as assigned
Perfect Intern Candidates Have:
- A strong work ethic, ability to take and understand direction, discipline to work alone and/or unsupervised, ability to meet deadlines
- 10 hours per week to dedicate to working for the organization
- An up-to-date computer with internet access
- Proven writing skills (from school, blogs, reports), including excellent grammar and spelling
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing basics
- A desire to work in communications, graphic design, digital content and/or media (writing, photography, videography)
- An interest in hunting, fishing, shooting sports, camping and/or wildlife conservation (not environmentalism)
- Hands-on experience/familiarity with Windows-based systems and programs such as Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Dropbox and web-based programs such as Canva
- Ability to begin working immediately
