Overview of POMA’s Annual Meeting Agenda

Posted on: Mar 03, 2025

POMA’s Annual Meeting isn’t just about networking. It’s an immersive experience where you’ll create marketable content, connect with brands, secure sponsorships and leave with stories you can publish and profit from. Over three days, your schedule will be packed with activities.

On Monday, June 23, participants will head to legendary Camp Perry for the Range Experience, presented by NSSF – The Firearms Industry Trade Association. This is a modernized media range day centered around the experiences and real-world use cases of firearms and recreational shooting sports. Media members will get opportunities for on-site content creation, firearms training, networking and collaboration, product discovery and hands-on shooting sports experiences. The day will end with welcome reception hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Wildlife and tour of Ohio’s Magee Marsh Wildlife Area. Purchased by the Ohio Division of Wildlife in August 1951, the primary responsibility at Magee Marsh is the development and maintenance of high-quality wetland habitat for a diverse array of wetland wildlife species. The marsh is host to the Biggest Weekend in Birding, where 60,000-80,000 Americans flock each year to observe the annual spring migration.

Tuesday, June 24 starts with the Product Showcase, where media members can meet directly with top outdoor brands and get early access to new products before they hit the market. Brands are looking for media professionals to review and promote their gear—this is your chance to land sponsorship deals, affiliate partnerships or paid content opportunities. The afternoon will be spent at one of America’s most state-of-the-art indoor shooting facilities, Lake Erie Arms for content creation sessions. These aren’t just lectures; they’re interactive experiences where you’ll shoot photos, film video and gather real-time content. With brands and experts on-site, you’ll have access to story angles, expert quotes and visuals that can be turned into sellable articles, videos or pitches for publications. The evening will end with the annual dinner and auction benefiting POMA.

Wednesday, June 25 is field trip day. Attendees can choose from one of the following four fabulous field trips: an island exploration getaway on Lake Erie’s Kelly’s Island, explore Maumee Bay State Park from land and water, charter boat fishing for walleye in Lake Erie’s Western Basin or a visit to Castalia Fish Hatchery for a tour and trout stream fishing. The afternoon will feature educational sessions, which provide actionable insights on storytelling, audience engagement and industry shifts to help you improve your craft and expand your reach. Then a keynote speaker will address attendees, followed by dinner and an awards ceremony, where the Pinnacle Award recipients will be honored. Each night offers a campfire session for attendees to connect and network.
