For this year’s Annual Meeting, POMA and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) are kicking off day one with an all-new media range day that highlights shooting sports organizations, the sports they govern, the products that integrate into those sports and more. This event, renamed the Range Experience to suit its nature, will be held at the Camp Perry Ranges at the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Headquarters in Port Clinton, Ohio, on the first day of the POMA Annual Meeting. Prepare to waste no time when you arrive, because we’re jumping headfirst into content creation, collaborative projects, networking, product discovery, firearm training and professional development opportunities!
Camp Perry, located on the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio, has a long history of training military personnel and hosting shooting competitions. Attendees will get the opportunity to take an exclusive history tour of Camp Perry and learn about its origins, the way it has changed over the years, athletes and communities it supports, the significant impact it has on the shooting sports community and much more. The ranges at Camp Perry extend out to 1,000 yards, one of the longest distances POMA members have had the opportunity to shoot at – another story opportunity. POMA, NSSF and CMP are excited to bring media together at this historic location and expand content creation opportunities using the range and facilities the CMP is graciously providing.
Shooting Sports Experiences
You may know the products, but have you ever tested the boundaries of your shooting skills through officially governed shooting sports? Several shooting sports experience stations will be set up that allow attendees to learn about these opportunities directly with the organizations that govern them nationwide (even internationally), get hands-on, dabble in friendly competition and leave with stories to tell.
Optional Firearms Media 101 Course with NSSF
Join Matt Manda, NSSF Director of Public Affairs in this three-hour introductory course to firearms reporting. The course includes a classroom session and simulator training in the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center followed by a live-fire training to help with firearm familiarization. All participants will receive materials from NSSF’s First Shots program and other helpful resources all media professionals should have on-hand when reporting on firearms. NSSF welcomes any media attendees to join. The class is limited to 30 people.
Access to Dozens of Product Brands
In addition to the trainings and shooting sports experience stations, dozens of POMA Corporate Partners and product brands will be showcasing their products and services and giving media the opportunity to test products and work with brand reps on-site. Come ready to collaborate and create content!
The Range Experience will be over when CMP fires the canon. All participants will gather under the flag near the CMP water tower for a group photo before the group departs for the Welcome Event at Magee Marsh Visitor Center to continue the excellent agenda POMA has lined up for its three-day Annual Meeting.
Day two will offer more incredible content creation opportunities with the Product Showcase and Content Creation Sessions at Lake Erie Arms. If firearm-related content is your specialty, this year’s Annual Meeting is your playground!
