POMA and Alabama Black Belt Adventures Turkey Hunt - April 21-24
The Eastern wild turkey is “King of Spring” in the heart of Alabama’s famed Black Belt region, so get ready for a heart-pounding adventure as we chase those wily black beards!
Shenandoah Plantation, a privately owned quail plantation, is located in the storied “Bird Dog Field Trial Capital of the World” rural town of Union Springs. In addition to turkey hunting, there will be a property tour of Shenandoah via quail buggy, fishing in their well-stocked bass lake, a presentation on the field trial history and visit downtown for photo ops of the Whele bird dog statue and field trial mural.
We’ll travel down the road a bit for dinner one night at the John Hall Market, where we’ll have the chance to savor The Cecil Quail, named the “best quail dish I’ve ever eaten” by outdoor writer Eddie Nickens in Garden & Gun magazine last fall. Chef Jeremiah Doughty, of From Field to Plate, will close out our visit with a memorable and delectable wild game dinner.
