Fox Leads 2025 National Rifle Championship at Camp Perry
CAMP PERRY, Ohio – After a grueling challenge of endurance on the range, James Fox, 40, of Albany, OR, rose to the top of the results page of the 2025 National Rifle Championship 2400 Aggregate as the overall winner of the Service Rifle category – finding victory by just one point.
The National Rifle Championship, part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) month-long National Matches, features three days of 80-shot competition (800 Aggregates) along with a four-person team event. Category awards are presented each day as well as for the culminating 2400 Aggregate at the conclusion of the series.
The phase was held July 20-23, on CMP’s own line of outdoor electronic highpower targets.
With his talents, Fox secured a score of 2375-108X over the three days of competition, also leading civilian competitors on days 2 and 3 on his way to the overall win. He went on to earn the Standing Slow Fire Civilian Aggregate title for his consistency in the position throughout the championship.
Finding second was SPC Zevin Linse, 23, of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) – staying close with a score of 2374-95X. Linse’s USAMU teammate, SSG Verne Conant, 29, of Cataula, GA, found third with a score of 2373-109X.
High Junior of the Service Rifle portion was Eli Graff, 16, of Cincinnati, OH, with a score of 2344-59X, as the USAMU’s SPC Amber Kingshill, 22, finished fifth overall and earned the High Woman title.
