Educational Session #2
National Wild Turkey Federation
“The NWTF: An Organization on a Mission”
The NWTF boasts a dual mission dedicated to the conservation of wild turkeys and the preservation of our hunting heritage. Since 1973, NWTF volunteers and staff have worked alongside state and federal agencies and other partners to ensure the wild turkey thrives in an ever-changing environment. From devastating wildfires to habitat loss due to development or non-management, the work is never-ending. Because wildlife, specifically wild turkeys, know no boundaries, habitat work must cross county and state lines. This session will introduce you to the NWTF and our landscape-scale initiatives, which move the needle on the habitat work and bring together a diverse group of partners. From roost trees to nesting and brood habitat, the entirety of the wild turkey's annual needs cycle is addressed through these landscape-scale initiatives. In addition, you will also hear about the work that is specifically happening right here in Ohio.
