CMP Hosts Public Veterans Day, Holiday Events at Gary Anderson Competition Center

Posted on: Nov 08, 2025

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) invites you to check out our upcoming community events for all ages at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center!

The Competition Center, located on the grounds of the Camp Perry National Guard Training Site in Port Clinton, is an activity center, open to the public each week. The facility houses a retail store, classroom, common area, Laser Shot simulators and an 80-point indoor electronic target range for air rifle and air pistol.

Outside of marksmanship, guests are always welcome to tour the building, filled with authentic memorabilia from the career of two-time gold medalist, Gary Anderson.

Upcoming events include:

  • Nov. 11, 12-8 p.m. – Veterans Day – Veterans receive free admission for the air range and Laser Shot simulators!
  • Nov. 18, 6 p.m. – Turkey Shoot Bench Match – Participants fire air rifles from a support block, equipment provided! Prizes will be awarded to the top three places (including a full-size turkey!).
  • Dec. 16, 5-8 p.m. – Holiday Party – Festive music, refreshments and more!

Bring your own qualified equipment or use ours! If you’re new to the sport, our trained staff members will be on hand to ensure safety and to answer your questions! All ages welcome, though juniors must be at least 10 years old to handle air rifles or air pistols.

Air guns are a safe, effective introduction to marksmanship – with no kickback and little noise as they propel lead pellets downrange (as the name suggests) through the power of air. The Megalink electronic targets within the range instantly display shot placement on LED monitors, making air gun a convenient and easy activity for individuals of all experience levels.
