Bowhunter Ed Classes Available In-person & Online

Posted on: Sep 19, 2022

RAPID CITY, SD (September 19, 2022) – National Bowhunter Education Foundation reminds new and experienced bowhunters that bowhunter education classes are available in-person and online. Students receive information that helps them be more successful and safer in the field while adhering to ethical standards. Online bowhunter education offers at-home convenience for those interested in working at their own pace while in person classes offer the expertise of seasoned bowhunters. In-person attendees receive classroom instruction for 8-10 hours and take part in interactive outdoor activities lead by volunteer in-person instructors who have received NBEF-certified training. Specialized crossbow education courses are also available. Upon successful completion of all courses, regardless of delivery style, participants receive a certificate.

Some states and special hunts require successful completion of bowhunter education prior to obtaining a license to bowhunt. Learn about the requirements where you hunt. Even if the course isn’t required it’s helpful to learn about game identification, game anatomy for proper shot placement for quick game recovery, up-to-date safety measures that protect you and other hunters, laws and regulations and ethical behavior. Students also learn about different types of bows and arrows, shooting fundamentals, game care and critical outdoor survival.

NBEF Executive Director Marilyn Bentz said, “We know that educated bowhunters are more successful hunters and better stewards of the sport. Our standardized curriculum has helped retain bowhunters through their success afield for over 40 years.”

NBEF helps bowhunters learn to be safe, successful and stewards of the sport. NBEF offers bowhunting instructional items, books, videos, 3-D models, apparel and more at nbef.org.
