MeatEater, Inc. is seeking a highly-motivated outdoors industry salesperson to join our team as a Sponsorship Lead. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record packaging, pitching, and closing sponsorships in the outdoor lifestyle and commerce spaces, with multimedia sales experience being particularly valuable. This experience should also include an in-depth knowledge of the social media landscape, creatively leveraging premium brands and influencers to optimize for client investment goals. In addition to sales success, the candidate needs to offer a deep network with an established reputation to represent MeatEater’s brand with integrity. Finally, candidates must possess a self-starter mindset that takes accountability for every step of a sales process, from preparing pitch materials to leading post-campaign recaps. The Sponsorship Lead will serve as MeatEater’s primary commercial contact for MeatEater’s leading presence across hunting, fishing, conservation, and wild foods, helping create and implement a strategy that enables maximum impact across the outdoor landscape. As a result, candidates must exhibit a passion for MeatEater’s current brand and content portfolio, as well as its opportunity to better engage partners endemic to the outdoor space. This position reports to MeatEater’s Chief Content Officer. Requirements
  • Create content sales packages, formalizing everything from pricing to collateral creation, with particular focus on video, social media, and MeatEater.com editorial
  • Lead client pitches both independently and alongside MeatEater leadership
  • Manage endemic hunting and fishing partnership pipeline with opportunity to grow into the non-endemic space
  • Evangelize MeatEater content franchises and crew members to the wider industry at trade shows and priority partner events
  • Own every facet of account management, from kickoff calls to client reporting and campaign post mortem process
  • Partner closely with Finance and Accounting on financial forecasting, invoicing, and payment collection
  • Other duties as beneficial to MeatEater
Experience
  • 7+ years working in sales at an outdoor-focused brand or organization, with particular focus on content
  • Experience managing influencers in the outdoor lifestyle space
Specialized Knowledge/Skills
  • Deep knowledge of the hunting and fishing brand landscapes, well networked across endemic sponsor category leaders
  • High level development acumen to interact professionally while communicating across broader organization
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent teaming, influencing, and interpersonal skills
  • Creative, proven self-starter
Additional Requirements
  • Passionate about commercializing content in the outdoors as well as getting out and experiencing it
  • Ability to travel extensively, must be able to work occasional off hours when required
