The recently relaunched American Field, a 152-year-old hunting dog and sporting publication now under the ownership of the United Kennel Club, is seeking contributors for upcoming 2026 issues. Bringing together all types of hunting dogs, from bird dogs and retrievers to hounds, beagles, working dogs, and more, American Field also celebrates the outdoor sporting spirit by showcasing wild game cooking, fieldcraft, conservation, shooting, and other sporting topics, along with sharing humor, art, poetry, and other lyrical and artistic works.
Who We Are
Just like you, we are your average, ordinary, everyday DIYer, the blue collar, working class, hardcore hunting dog and sporting enthusiast with an emphasis on authentic and meaningful story-driven narratives and personal experiences that highlight our common passion and shared purpose for our dogs and days afield.
What We’re Looking For
Assignments range from short (500-800-word) essays to ~1500-word articles to full-length features (1800-2200 words). Please be prepared to furnish images/illustrations/art with your final manuscript.
