What We Can Achieve Together
The Eastern Nevada Restoration Project Manager will further The Nature Conservancy's conservation goals by planning and implementing substantial collaborative restoration projects in close coordination with the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, the Nature Resource Conservation Service and other partners in eastern Nevada. The BLM's Humboldt-O'Neil Restoration Landscape is the focal geography. In this role, you will focus on the complex demands of implementing restoration projects from initial watershed prioritization to post-implementation monitoring, working closely and continuously with private landowners, the BLM, and additional partners to restore high-priority riparian and upland resources.
Together with partners, this position will develop the necessary designs, permits, and clearances to plan riparian and upland restoration projects, and select, contract with, and oversee the work crews used to implement them. Working at the nexus of public and private lands, you will have the opportunity to leverage time and money to optimize effectiveness. The Eastern Nevada Restoration Project Manager will also organize trainings with and for local landowners and land managers and foster collaborative efforts to help instill a legacy of durable restoration into the future as well as assist partners in refining and executing monitoring plans for existing projects. Through an active Community of Practice with TNC colleagues from across the West, you will co-develop knowledge and expertise to collectively problem solve, understand complex issues, and leverage experience and results that help the BLM accomplish its mission managing our public lands.
The Eastern Nevada Restoration Project Manager will also assist with permanently protecting private lands in eastern Nevada by working with TNC Protection Staff on new conservation easements and acquisitions. The project Manager will coordinate occasional in-person meetings and site visits with private landowners located in eastern Nevada, providing them with information on land preservation options.
