Job Description & Requirements

We are looking for a detail oriented Operations Manager that can help our fast growing team

stay aligned with our mission and vision while anticipating 10 steps ahead and keeping things

operating smoothly. Our ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, come to the table

with strong organizational skills, and harness a forward thinking approach to help us provide an

outstanding customer experience while simultaneously fueling the growth of Her Outdoor

Journey.

The Operations Manager plays a vital role in every aspect of our operations including customer

communications, coordination with our internal team to plan, budget, and execute all events,

retreats and shows. This ideal candidate will also work closely with our Sales and Marketing

Director to keep a clear line of sight on budgets, logistics, and deliverables. The Operations

Manager will be responsible for maintaining timely recertifications, tax timelines, and payroll for

our business as well as our guides/ team members.

This ideal candidate will come to the table with unparalleled communication and organizational

skills not only for themselves but for the entire team at Her Outdoor Journey.

The Operations Manager position will support our internal and outbound Marketing and PR

Specialist’s efforts to enhance branding, market positioning, and asset creation as well as

coordination with our Sales and Marketing Director to elevate our outreach and company

growth. This team mate will coordinate and create policies and procedures for front and back

end operations to ensure smooth and profitable operations. Having a clear understanding of our

financial landscape as well as our fiscal budgets will allow this candidate to assist our entire

team in creating incredible customer experiences while moving the needle in our profits and

growth as a company.

What you’ll be doing

- Oversee all company operations to ensure smooth workflow and deadline adherence.

- Assisting with hiring, onboarding, and training, helping new employees adjust to the business

and fit into our company culture.

- Work collaboratively with our financial team to ensure adherence to all financial legalities.

- Setting goals and objectives, defining and implementing the business strategy, and setting

individual and overall goals.

- Work with HOJ partners and sponsors to ensure contracted deliverables are maintained and

satisfied.

- Managing budgets, including budgets for new hires, advertising, suppliers, events, etc.

- Assisting with the creation and implementation of marketing and promotion strategy.

- Managing employees, creating work-flow, delegating tasks, providing performance feedback,

supporting the creation and conception of new events and retreats, and creating strategies to

motivate and engage staff.

- Project management and helping our team work with defined objectives to save time and

money and improve the customer experience.

- Inventory management while ensuring a reliable flow of goods to consumers.

- Visual displays for our shows and events, overseeing show logistics with event staff.

- Keeping employees up to date on organizational news, key business decisions, and other

information to help keep our team connected and flowing smoothly.

- Be an ambassador of the company to all external partners and the online community.

- Duties and tasks will be performed professionally, according to Her Outdoor Journey policies

and procedures.

- Leadership and motivating teams, providing solutions for conflicts, and managing the

company’s vision and goals.

- Strategic planning and outlining the company's vision for the future and using that vision to

define the company's goals and objectives.

- Process improvement while promoting productivity and optimizing the resources of a

company's personnel through measurable metrics.

- Strategic thinking on a long term and planning premise for the business's future while

considering the present situation.

- Addressing budget matters while ensuring that operations stay within their target budgets so

that the company remains profitable.

Skills & experience you’ll bring to Her Outdoor Journey

- Experience in the hunting/ outdoor community preferred

- Event planning and hosting experience preferred

- An eye for copywriting and editing while always speaking through the voice of HOJ

- Exceptional interpersonal skills for both front and back office communications

- Experience managing a team while keeping a focus on the overall business objectives

- Thorough understanding of business operations, budgets, profit/loss, and operations of a

multi-state company

- Critical thinking on company growth, the customer journey, and team flow

- Basic understanding of e-commerce platforms

- Wix website experience preferred

- Experience with budgets and asset allocation is a must

- Photography, videography, and/or content-related tools is a plus

- Data reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Meta analytics dashboards, or similar

- Highly creative with the ability to identify trends and opportunities that support the business

and overall growth

- Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills preferred

- Ability to work independently, customer-first mindset, strong problem-solving skills, highly

motivated, and can work well under short deadlines when needed

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, or a related field preferred

- 2+ years of proven experience in business management, preferably in the outdoor or event

industry

- Strong passion for the outdoors and a commitment to empowering women is a must

- Proficiency in budgets, and project management software

- Understanding of multi-state tax requirements preferred

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-forward approach

- Exceptional attention to detail

- Must be incredibly organized and timely

- Experience managing a team

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

- Experience with Asana, Mailchimp, Wix, G-Suite preferred
