National Director Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation’s Scholastic Clay Target Program

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is seeking a highly motivated individual to assume the role of National Director for the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP). The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the SCTP and related clay target shooting programs within the SSSF.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is a 501c (3) not-for-profit organization and is the national leader in youth development shooting sports programs. Using a combination of education and athletics our mission is to enhance the growth and personal development of student athletes throughout the nation through the shooting sports.

Through a variety of fun, team-based shooting events in both our Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) and Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), we provide student athletes aged elementary through college with a supportive environment where shooting sports serve as catalysts for teaching life lessons and skills that emphasize positive character traits and citizenship values. Throughout all training, practice, and competitions, we instill in our participants a commitment to safe firearm handling, teamwork, and leadership.

Essential Functions

The SCTP National Director will:

  • Provide leadership for all aspects of the SCTP and associated clay target shooting programs within the SSSF.
  • Supervise SSSF employees assigned to SCTP.
  • Utilize Directors of Development and a network of Regional Field Representatives, State Advisors, and other key contacts, to grow and maintain SCTP member teams across the country.
  • Successfully market SSSF’s programs to shooting ranges, schools, youth organizations and existing youth shooting sports programs.
  • Identify and actively cultivate potential donors and sponsors to support SSSF’s mission of youth shooting sports and meet budget goals.
  • Coordinate SSSF/SCTP fundraising banquets.
  • Coordinate education and training for new member teams and coaches.
  • Provide tools, technology, and other resources to facilitate participation in SSSF’s programs.
  • Develop partnerships with other clay target organizations to promote SSSF/SCTP to ranges and provide new pathways for SCTP member athletes and their families.
  • Work with the Foundation President/Executive Director and Director of Operations of the SSSF to develop new leads for foundation gifting.
  • Maintain and grow shooting industry support and sponsorships for the SSSF and its clay target program.
  • Grow SCTP event participation across the country.
  • Serve as on-site match director (MD) for all SSSF/SCTP national clay target shooting events and some regional events.
  • Recruit local volunteer State Advisors and MDs for regional and state championship events and work closely with volunteers to ensure events are conducted in accordance with SSSF/SCTP standards.
  • Work closely with the President/Executive Director and Director of Operations to develop annual Foundation budget and monitor program income and expenses against the budget.

Job Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of clay target shooting sports.
  • Familiarity with clay target shooting sports registration and scoring software programs.
  • Shotgun shooting sports industry familiarity preferred.
  • Familiarity with shooting associations that mirror SSSF’s event offerings.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work remotely as a team player.
  • 5+ years experience in a leadership role managing volunteers and employees.
  • 3+ years experience in fundraising.
  • 3+ years experience in successfully managing shooting competitions.
  • Prior experience as a volunteer shooting sports or other youth sports coach.
  • Prior experience successfully developing grassroots, volunteer-based programs.
  • Ability to travel up to 35%.

Education

High School Graduate and a minimum of five years of management experience or associate or bachelor’s degree in business management preferred.

Physical Demand and Working Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. The ability to travel is required. Must hold a valid driver’s license.
