MARKETING DIRECTOR

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate is an energetic individual with strong leadership skills who takes the lead in developing and managing a sound program of work designed to grow outdoor and leisure travel related revenues through promotion, marketing and advertising of the Black Belt region’s assets. Those responsibilities include crafting results-driven strategies that advance our destination’s brand, inspires action and grows engagement. Networking and collaboration with regional stakeholders (i.e. chambers of commerce, tourism organizations, outfitters, attractions and others) in our 23-county region and corporate partners is an important, contributing factor to achieving those goals. 

 

General Responsibilities: 

·        Develop a yearly plan of work designed to attract and grow the outdoor and leisure travel markets.

·        Identify research-based advertising and marketing strategies to reach targeted audiences.

·        Advise Executive Director on affordable and effective media buys.

·        Represent ALBBAA at outdoor media, consumer and leisure travel tradeshows/expos.

·        Individual and group media event development, management and implementation for outdoor and leisure travel markets.

·        Sporting events research, solicitation and coordination (i.e., dog trials and retriever competitions, archery tournaments, etc.)

·        Plan and organize stakeholder FAM tours throughout the region.

·        Work in conjunction with Communications Manager on social media content development.

·        Contribute to content required to compile the e-newsletter and quarterly ALBBAA activity report to stakeholders and regional partners.

·        Advisory Council liaison—conduct quarterly meetings and assist with organization of established projects.

·        Photography/videography library development and maintenance.

·        Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director which are necessary to achieve objectives outlined by the ALBBAA Board of Directors.

 

Qualifications:

·        Preferred bachelor’s degree in business or marketing/communications or related field.

·        Experience in staff management is an added bonus.

·        Proven skills in content and marketing creativity that inspires, informs and captivates consumers.

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·        Knowledge in graphic design and design principles.

·        Knowledge in all social media platforms—management, content development and marketing.

·        Proficient in software programs (Google Drive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

·        Experience in meeting and event planning and execution.

Work Requirements:

·        The ideal candidate is highly skilled in their field, can work under minimal supervision, is creative and has a flexible schedule

·        The position requires tact, diplomacy, good judgement, dependability, self-motivation and someone who works well in the ever-changing landscape of the defined areas of responsibilities.

·        Job responsibilities will be performed both in-office and outside the office.

·        This position requires the ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

·        Travel and over-night stays, both in-state and out of state, are required on occasion when engaged in carrying out the responsibilities previously outlined.

·        General office tasks, time management and activity reporting are expected.

·       Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

 

Classification/Salary:

1.      Full-time, exempt

2.      $80,000 yearly (bonus potential based on performance)
