What We Can Achieve Together Reporting to the CEO, serving on the Executive Leadership Team, and working with the Board of Directors, the Global Head, Policy & Public Funding is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the organization and establishing long-range goals, plans and policies to engage with governments, corporate and community leaders, and others to help us achieve our mission of tackling biodiversity loss and climate change. The Nature Conservancy will not accomplish our ambitious goals without strong, innovative policy leadership. This role is a key partner to the CEO in advancing transformational strategies for our work. The Global Head, Policy and Public Funding provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that TNC has the optimal public policy and public funding strategies to effectively accomplish long-term conservation results and climate solutions. As part of TNC’s Executive Leadership team, the Global Head, Policy & Public Funding also contributes to planning and advancing operational excellence across the organization.   • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Economy, Law, or related field plus 15 or more years of related experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years senior-level experience in environmental, climate, and/or conservation public policy leadership.
  • Experience at a high level in the international policy arena and in the public global funding sector, with a strong preference for multi- and bi-lateral experience.
  • Experience leading, developing and managing a large multi-disciplinary team, including managing senior level leaders.
  • Experience conceiving, planning and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Experience evaluating and/or negotiating complex, high profile and/or sensitive agreements.
  • Experience communicating with and presenting to diverse audiences including government officials, donors, board members, employees, outside partners or equivalent.
  • Experience in fundraising, including cultivation of major public donors.
SALARY INFORMATION This position may be based in any country where TNC has an established entity, taking into consideration legal restrictions, such as non-national ratios and immigration processing times. For U.S. based applicants only, the starting pay range for this position is generally within the range of $315,000 - $350,000 USD for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. For all other applicants, pay ranges will be in local currency, the pay range will be based on the local labor market, and not tied to the above pay range. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment and used to determine your actual pay range. Additionally, for all applicants, actual pay will fall within a range based on a variety of factors including, for example, the candidate’s qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
