Job Summary:

The Digital Media Specialist will work to develop and share content that promotes the NWTF mission across a variety of digital platforms in an effort to create a sense of community while also working to better explain the relevancy of the organizational mission to hunters, conservationists and non-traditional audiences who benefit from the conservation work of the NWTF.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use web and social media to increase the impact of NWTF-related content from the following sources:
  • Membership Campaigns
  • Fundraisers
  • Magazines
  • Television/Radio/Podcasts
  • Press releases
  • Promotional materials (brochures, fliers, etc.)
  • E-newsletter
  • Eblasts
  • Create and schedule NWTF and partner posts across a variety of social channels 
  • Monitor and engage with audiences on social platforms
  • Work in connection with the social media agenda of the NWTF
  • Create, correct and format pictures and video for the web use 
  • Monitor and report data metrics associated with SEO, Google Ads, and social platforms.
  • Edit social post copy for consistency and accuracy by recognizing discrepancies in language, layout, formatting or NWTF branding
  • Follow emerging & developing trends in social media content as well as changes and developments in current and new social media platforms
  • Attend annual NWTF Convention, regional meetings and training opportunities, as necessary. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills a must
  • Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other social media channels
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe CS (HTML and photo editing) for use in developing content
  • Basic video editing skills for social media content
  • Knowledge of AP style or ability to learn
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with Google analytics and Ads
  • Attention to detail and fact checking
  • Understand the NWTFs mission and promote the NWTF to media, members and the public, as well as other employees
  • Must be able to take projects from concept to completion with minimal guidance 
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time-management skills as social media monitoring requires time commitments outside of normal business hours to accommodate peak social media traffic on nights and weekends
  • Detail-oriented, creative, deadline-driven, team player who can adapt and learn quickly, particularly in regard to new software and technology
  • Must be able to legally handle firearms

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in communications related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in writing for outdoor/hunting or other related industry
  • Hold hunter safety certification

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
