The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) is seeking a Development & Outreach Assistant to join the Development & Events team in our Washington, DC office.

CSF's mission is to work with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping and the American values they serve. The unique and collective force of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen's Caucus (GSC) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen's Caucuses (NASC), working closely with CSF, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that advance the agenda of America's hunters and anglers.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Outreach Assistant will contribute to development efforts at the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation. This person will work to raise funds for the organization, primarily by assisting with merchandise, auction items, collecting and distributing of firearms and other auction items, and donor database management. The successful candidate will work a traditional work schedule Monday – Friday, though evening and weekend hours will, at times, be required. Tavel will be required approximately 10-15% of the time. This is an entry level, full-time salaried position based at CSF headquarters in Washington D.C., with upward mobility potential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Embrace and positively represent CSF’s Mission;
  • Assist in fundraising efforts including promotional efforts;
  • Establish productive relationships with corporate and individual donors;
  • Manage CSF’s auction item inventory, including firearms;
  • Work with the Development Team to ensure timely renewals and responses to prospects and current donors, as well as overseeing the donor database;
  • Assist with event preparations including but not limited to: auction solicitation, merchandise, taxidermy, etc.;
  • Execute post-event follow-up with donors as needed;
  • Research new opportunities and make initial contact to further outreach efforts;
  • Cultivate lapsed donors;
  • Perform a variety of administrative support tasks to support the greater team;
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, when required, and travel outside of the D.C. Metro area as needed. Travel will be 10-15%; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable (active participant) of hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and/or trapping;
  • Have a working knowledge of firearms and outdoor products;
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently within a collaborative team atmosphere;
  • Active drivers license in good standing; and
  • Ability to lift 20-40 lbs.

Preferences

  • Demonstrated history of a commitment to conservation including but not limited to: Membership in conservation organizations, volunteering, recruitment, etc.; and
  • Fundraising experience.
