Job Summary:
The Communications Manager is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities, be it internal or external, to develop, execute and evaluate the communications plan that effectively describes and promotes the region’s outdoor and tourism assets. The ideal candidate’s primary responsibilities will be developing and implementing effective strategies on all social media and digital platforms to enhance our brand presence, engagement with our audience, drive traffic to our website, and increase general awareness of our destination.
This role requires a blend of creativity, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of social media trends along with best practices. Knowledge or experience in photography or videography is beneficial and a plus for content development for all platforms of promotion and advertising.
General Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing and executing the organization’s annual communications and marketing plan.
• Manage ALBBAA’s social media platforms and campaigns, including social media/digital research-based communication, advertising, and marketing strategies to reach the organization’s strategic goals.
· Create engaging and compelling content for digital platforms, including social media posts, reels and blog articles.
· Establish relationships with social media influencers to develop strong network.
• Serve as the communications partner with associated staff on a variety of initiatives identified by the Executive Director.
• Coordinate with website manager any maintenance issues, photo contest content, and additions required.
• Track and evaluate digital and social media marketing programs to determine effectiveness of marketing efforts.
• Assemble information and respond to lead requests received as a result of advertising.
• Liaison to public relations firm on press release development and press conference events.
• Content development and dissemination of monthly e-newsletter to more than 126K subscribers.
• Content development and dissemination of quarterly newsletter outlining ALBBAA activities, announcements and updates to regional partners.
• Work as part of a team to host and conduct media events, FAM Tours and regional stakeholder tour events.
· Research and compile information for marketing collateral.
Qualifications:
· The position requires tact, diplomacy, good judgement, dependability, self-motivation and someone who works well in an ever-changing landscape of the defined areas of responsibilities.
· Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Knowledge in graphic design.
· Previous experience in the tourism industry is a plus.
· Ability to work independently and handle tasks of importance in a timely manner.
· Team player with the ability to work well with others.
· Microsoft Office Suite basic knowledge, Apple Mac, InDesign software or comparable programs.
Work Requirements:
· This is a full-time position. Work will generally be performed in an office setting.
· This position requires the ability to work a varied schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.
· This position may require overnight travel.
Classification/Salary:
1. Full-time, exempt
2. $50,000 yearly (bonus potential based on performance)
