Why Success in the Deer Woods Doesn’t Always Include a Punched Tag Type A personalities are described as "displaying a pattern of behavior and personality associated with high-achievement, competitiveness, and impatience." This article is for the type-A's in the crowd. At the risk of sounding pretentious, I'm including myself in that crew. When it comes to hunting, fishing and life, I am results-oriented. If I slow down and look around on a hunt, I realize I enjoy every minute out there. But, to tell you the truth, I don't allow myself those moments nearly as often as I should. Usually, I'm too focused on achieving the goal of catching a fish or outsmarting an animal to focus on those little in-between victories the outdoors gifts us. This article by Adam Moore of MeatEater looks into why we should consider every moment outdoors a success. I think he's onto something. It's a theory I will be aiming to implement more into my outdoor experiences as well as my daily life, and I hope you consider it too.

Yes, I know. Hunter success rates depend on filled tags, but I’m not simply reducing success to dead deer. The playing field is anything but level for deer hunters. From weekend warriors on the local WMA to those who have clawed their way into privately managed honey holes, the circumstances are different.
