I hear this statement every year, "I went to conference and provided product to media members, but I haven’t seen any ink."

I hear this statement every year, "I went to conference and provided product to media members, but I haven’t seen any ink."

There’s no doubt that our corporate partners want results, tangible numbers. I can hear them now, “Was the POMA conference worth attending?” “How do we know, can you prove it?” “What’s our ROI on that trip?”

So, you’ve already spent the time and money to attend the conference. You’ve made some new friends and swapped a few stories with your old pals. Now it’s time to produce content. Be sure to follow up with POMA’s corporate partners once you’ve distributed that content. It’s easy, just give them a call. Or perhaps better, shoot them an email with a link or send a tearsheet.

Letting corporate partners know you’ve featured their product or service is important for two reasons. First, it gives you the opportunity to re-engage that person, say hello, and see if there are any new developments. Second, and more important, it allows the corporate partner to show some return on their investment. Down the road, that relationship may turn into something more lucrative for both parties.

So, please remember to tell our corporate partners when you feature or mention a product or service you learned about at the POMA conference. Making that commitment will enable us to keeping doing great things together.
