A few tools have been emerging recently which boast features that allow you to be more creative on Twitter. Using them can help a great deal to stand out from the noise and be noticed for adding value instead of clutter to your followers timeline.
“Engagement” is a word in near overuse these days I found. Yet it remains to be the word describing the power of Twitter best. Creating a certain buzz around your account given that there are close to 500,000 new users on Twitter each day isn’t always easy.
A few tools have been emerging recently which boast features that allow you to be more creative on Twitter. Using them can help a great deal to stand out from the noise and be noticed for adding value instead of clutter to your followers timeline.
A great tool to make my tweets stand out and more personal is one called Buffer. It allows you to stack up your Buffer with tweets. You can do this with browser extensions for Firefox, Chrome or Safari from anywhere you are.
This will allow you to tweet all the great posts you find each day without the downside of flooding your followers.
My favourite additional feature here is to highlight one line of text in an article and then hit the Buffer icon. Automatically it will make this line into your tweet alongside the shortened link.
A great way to start more engagement is to retweet others. There is nothing new about this. Yet trying to do it in a genuine and value adding manner is often overlooked.
So instead of simply hitting the retweet button editing a retweet is a great way to interact both with your followers more and with the initial person retweeting the post.
A tool which supports you very well here is Tweetdeck’s “Edit before RT” function. Showing the appreciation for a tweet with a thoughtful edit can make a big difference in the amount of engagement your tweets are getting.
Observing your own tweeting patterns in order to find out what works with your followers and what doesn’t is highly important too.
Buffer, already provides you with very useful stats about Tweets sent via Buffer, showing you the amount of clicks, retweets and reach. It will help you to figure out which of your tweets are useful and getting clicks and which you better stop tweeting in the future.
Another tool which goes into more in-depth about your tweeting analysis is TwentyFeet. You can conveniently track your overall Twitter analytics. The great part is the weekly reports on how the mentions, followers and retweets have changed over time. It allows you to play around and see what works and what needs further adjustments.
Sharing content for your followers in a consistent, yet digestible manner makes all the difference. Buffer frees you up to jump right into the conversation as you are safe knowing you are already providing the content.
Using Tweetdeck as your favourite Social Media dashboard will help you to make your engagement and retweeting truly personal. And finally the use of Twentyfeet or Buffer’s analytics will make sure you are right on track with your goals.
