POMA receives great questions from members every day. Today a member asked if electronic signatures are legally binding. The answer is, yes. In 2000, the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) and Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN) were adopted at the state and national level. The acts legalize the use of electronic records and electronic signatures for business.

Software programs like Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign, SigningHub and many others are available. Some are free, some charge fees based on usage/needs. If you'd like more information on digital signatures check out an article from PC World, "E-signatures: The complete guide to paperless signing."
