Drag-and-Drop File Transfer with Windows Explorer

Need to transfer files without an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program? Use Windows Explorer to complete the task.

First,

  • Place files/folders you want to transfer on your desktop
  • Open Windows Explorer (Start>Run>C:\) or (Start>Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer)
  • Decrease the size of the Windows Explorer screen and move the WE window so you can see the files/folders you want to transfer on your desktop

Review the illustration below and:

1: In Windows Explorer type the FTP location in the address box ftp://photos:members@professionaloutdoormedia.org/). If prompted for a password, enter the word member. This opens the remote FTP site in the right side of the Windows Explorer

2: Review folders in the remote FTP site and determine where you will drop your files/folders

3: Locate the files/folders to transfer on your desktop -- select by clicking on the file and holding
down the left-click button on the mouse

4: Drag the files/folders from the desktop onto the location where you want to place them in the remote FTP site -- with files/folders positioned properly release mouse button to drop your files
