It can be so easy to shop anonymously on line and get the best price going for a piece of equipment, but it isn’t always the best idea. Freelance photographer Bill Konway suggests buying locally if you want great customer support.

As a photographer, I find I can usually strike a pretty good deal with my local camera shop owner, a man I can also call anytime I have a problem regarding photography. I know his first name and he knows mine.
I might have been able to save a few bucks buying on line but who do I call when I have a question? Who do I trust when I’m looking for an honest opinion on a new piece of gear? Who will go out of their way to ship me new or rental gear across the country without question?
Yep, my local camera shop owner, Bruce, at Roberts Imaging. Let’s see you get that kind of service from a no name online dealer!
Thanks POMA member Bill Konway for this post. Bill is a freelance photographer.
