More than anything else, freelancers need paying clients. Without them, your business is just a hobby.
You're not going to get clients or keep the ones you have if you don't market yourself and behave like a trustworthy professional. You need an impressive presence on the Web, well-made business cards, and a reasonable rate structure. You also need to be dependable and good at what you do.
I can't promise you'll have booming business if you follow these six rules, but I can guarantee that you won't have one if you don't.

Your webpage is your storefront. If it doesn't look right, prospective clients will look elsewhere.
