One challenge that faced me is that one of my outdoor titles Practical Bowfishing was written years before E-books arrived and was now out of print, although I still retained some copies and all rights. To put new life into this book, I produced an E-book with updated supplier information and added an additional chapter describing a cross-country bowfishing trip that was completed after the softcover version was published. This E-book version is now being marketed on Amazon.com as well as in all other E-book formats.
With present technology it was not possible to include the more than 125 photos that were in the original. I used a dozen as chapter heads and expanded the captions of the missing photos to compensate for the lack of images.
The inexpensive E-book format allows old titles to be "freshened" to meet modern market demand. There is nothing to say that the E-book version has to be identical to the old, and most old non-fiction titles will benefit from updated information. It is helpful if you still have the text accessible on some media with a word-processing program that is still viable or can be converted. With changes in word processing programs and media, convert some of your old titles while the files can still be read to eliminate re-keying in or scanning hundreds of pages of text.
