SAAMI Offers Clarification on Acceptance of New 300 HAM’R Cartridge

SAAMI Sporting Arms Ammunition Manufacturers InstituteSAAMI would like to clarify the recent press release of February 7th. SIG Sauer was listed as the developer of the cartridge as is standard practice for the company which introduces the cartridge. SAAMI and SIG Sauer felt that it was important to clarify that the cartridge was in fact developed by Wilson Combat with the induction into SAAMI sponsored by SIG Sauer.

NEWTOWN, Conn. — The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute® (SAAMI®), the organization at the forefront of promoting firearm safety by creating standards that ensure safety, reliability and interchangeability of firearms, ammunition, and components, has announced the acceptance of a new rifle cartridge for SAAMI standardization.

Developed by Wilson Combat, and with the induction into SAAMI sponsored by SIG Sauer, the 300 HAM’R was introduced with a maximum average pressure of 57,500 psi, with a 125-grain bullet traveling at velocity of 2,450 fps and a 130-grain bullet traveling at a velocity of 2,425 fps. Stated ballistics are achieved in a 16-inch MSR-type barrel.
