The NWTF races into Charlotte, North Carolina as part of a special paint job on the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevy, driven by Jamie McMurray.
The American wild turkey will stake its claim as one of the fastest animals on the planet thanks to Bass Pro Shops’ promotion of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) through upcoming NASCAR races in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Bass Pro Shops sponsors the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates’ No. 1 Chevrolet, driven by Jamie McMurray, which is sporting a paint scheme promoting the NWTF for the NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, May 17.
“All of us at Bass Pro Shops are so proud of the conservation successes our friends at the National Wild Turkey Federation have achieved throughout the organization’s 40-plus years,” said Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. “Donating a special NWTF paint scheme for Jamie McMurray’s No. 1 Chevrolet SS at the All-Star race seemed like the perfect way to show our appreciation.”
A similar paint scheme will grace the panels of Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Chevy driven by Ty Dillon for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Charlotte, North Carolina, May 24.
The salute to the NWTF is a part of the Bass Pro Shops Racing for America’s Wildlife program. The program engages the NASCAR community in protecting America’s hunting and fishing heritage through habitat conservation and restoration, education and outreach.
“Knowing that the NWTF will be seen by millions of race fans across the country is an amazing feeling,” said George Thornton, NWTF CEO. “We are very thankful and look forward to the continued relationship we have with John L. Morris and Bass Pro Shops.”
Bass Pro Shops has long been a financial contributor to the NWTF making donations at NWTF Convention and Sport Shows, through April’s NWTF Month at Bass Pro Shops stores and much more.
In 2006, John L. Morris received the NWTF Lynn Boykin Hunting Heritage Award for his dedication to conservation and to securing the future of hunting for others. Bass Pro Shops earned the NWTF Corporate Achievement Award in 2005 for the company’s dedication to conservation and the NWTF.
The NWTF Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative is a charge that mobilizes science, fundraising and devoted volunteers to give the NWTF more energy and purpose than ever. Through this national initiative, NWTF has committed to raising $1.2 billion to conserve and enhance more than 4 million acres of essential upland wildlife habitat, create at least 1.5 million hunters and open access to 500,000 acres for hunting, shooting and outdoor enjoyment. Without hunters, there will be no wildlife or habitat. The NWTF is determined to Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.
