NSSF $100,000 Hunting Heritage Trust Grant Program Now Open for Applications

NSSF The Firearms Industry Trade AssociationNEWTOWN, Conn. — The National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms industry, is pleased to announce that the application process for the 2020 round of the Hunting Heritage Trust Grant program is now open for application.

Established in 2018, this grant program works to support hunting and shooting sports recruitment efforts. For 10 consecutive years, beginning in 2019, organizations meeting eligibility requirements may apply for a portion of each year’s total annual $100,000 grant to be used to support recruitment, retention and reactivation programs, known collectively as R3 efforts. While all organizations with formalized R3 programs will be considered for each year’s award, there will be an emphasis on those programs focusing on R3 efforts specific to adult-onset hunters.

“We were thrilled with the results achieved in year one and are truly excited to begin the second year of this grant program,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President & CEO. “It is designed with a singular focus in mind: the implementation of R3 efforts that produce tangible, measurable results, especially among those market-demographic segments that are underserved. This is an unprecedented opportunity for anyone and everyone to develop bar-setting, replicable models of success for the benefit of our entire industry.”

Mike Worley, President of the Georgia Wildlife Federation, one of last year’s inaugural grant recipients, noted that “Due to this important funding source, we were able to scale our college-level learn-to-hunt programs, and we are seeing terrific momentum build within this segment of non-traditional hunters. Such efforts are fitting nicely within NSSF’s +ONESM umbrella”.

Grant applications may be submitted by and in the name of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) seeking funding for hunting and shooting sports R3 efforts. All grant applications must be submitted to NSSF by May 15, 2020, for consideration. All projects for which grants are awarded funding in 2020 must be completed by March 12, 2021. Organizations are eligible for only one grant award from the Grant Program. The complete grant application criteria are viewable here.

R3 efforts are crucial for the future success of hunting and the shooting sports and should be a focus for all organizations seeking market growth. NSSF has a wide variety of resources available to help you get started and assist with your efforts.
