The award was one of several given out at QDMA’s Whitetail Weekend in Athens, Ga., April 12-13.

While there are lots of great QDMA events held across the country every year, the planning, execution and impact of this one made the decision process of choosing the 2018 QDMA Branch Event of the Year very easy.”

The majority of the 20 participants had not hunted in the past or had very limited opportunities to hunt. While in camp, the kids learned about deer biology, shot placement, spent significant time at the shooting range, had local conservation officers speak about hunting ethics, spent time fishing, shooting BB guns, and telling stories around the campfire. All the kids in camp had opportunities at deer, and several harvested multiple antlerless deer.

Receiving the award for the Branches were Chairman of the QDMA National Board Leon Hank (right) and Board Member Kevin Gillespie, both from Michigan.
