Atlantic County Federation of Sportsmen Receives NRA Foundation Grant
The NRA Foundation has recently given a grant to the Atlantic County Federation of Sportsmen. The grant is to assist the annual Youth Sporting Clays Shoot. The annual Youth Sporting Clays Shoot is free to all youth aged 10 to 16 and gives shooters of any skill level the chance to grow in the shooting sports.
The NRA Foundation recently awarded a grant to the Atlantic County Federation of Sportsmen to assist its annual Youth Sporting Clays Shoot. Founded in 1998, the youth marksmanship event is the largest of its kind on the east coast. More than 60 children participated in this year’s 17th Annual Youth Sporting Clays Shoot, which was hosted by the Atlantic County Chapter of the New Jersey Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs.
Every event begins with a safety briefing, ensuring all participants and parents know how to properly handle the firearms being used. The briefing also provides an opportunity to teach the young attendees about the responsibility that comes with participating in the shooting sports. During the event, each participant shoots 25 clays from stations manned by skilled instructors.
“I like watching the kids shoot, especially the first time shooters,” said Atlantic County Federation of Sportsmen Treasurer Howard Huston. “Parents are grateful we thoroughly teach gun safety and handling and the kids enjoy the event so much that many come back year after year.”
The annual Youth Sporting Clays Shoot is free to all youth aged 10 to 16 and gives shooters of all skill levels the chance to learn and grow in the shooting sports. To date, the Atlantic County Federation of Sportsmen’s Club of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, has received five NRA Foundation grants totaling more than $5,300.
