Colorado Staff Member Honored by Ducks Unlimited

Erik Wettersten, regional director for Ducks Unlimited (DU), received the 2013-14 Regional Director of the Year award for his outstanding efforts as a staff member of Region 2, an area that encompasses the Prairies and Great Plains.

“It is amazing honor to be recognized with this award,” Wettersten said. “More than anything, it’s a testament to the dedication and quality of Colorado volunteers with whom I get to work.”

Wettersten, a resident of Evergreen, Colo., covers Front Range and West Slope Colorado and works with volunteer committees hosting fundraisers for the 77-year-old conservation organization. The events in his region raised more than $850,000, for DU’s conservation mission in the fiscal year ending in June 30. In addition, he was also awarded 2013-14 National Regional Director of the Year.

Ducks Unlimited is the leader in wetlands conservation, and volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization. Coordinating more than 4,000 local fund-raising events, the volunteers generate more than 400,000 memberships and more than $50 million annually.
