The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industries, praised the confirmation of Ryan Zinke as the 52nd Secretary of the Interior. Zinke, a former U.S. Representative (R-Mont.), was confirmed by the Senate in a 68-31 vote today. The former Navy SEAL was nominated by President Donald Trump in December to fill the Cabinet post and testified before Congress more than a month ago.

Today’s hunters employ meticulous scent-control programs, high-tech camouflage patterns and elaborate concealment strategies to reduce the possibility of being busted by their quarry. Fair enough. Considering the extraordinary sensory abilities most game animals possess, all these safeguards make perfect sense. What doesn’t make sense is the high-percentage of hunters who go to such lengths, but fail to make any effort whatsoever to conceal their bare skin.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) has introduced the NSSF-supported Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (S.446), a companion to the House of Representatives bipartisan bill introduced by U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.). The proposed legislation, with 30 co-sponsors, would compel states to recognize concealed carry permits issued from other states that have concealed carry laws within their own borders - much in the same way a driver's license is recognized. The bill aims to eliminate the confusion of varying state-by-state laws and provide protection for Second Amendment rights for permit holders.
