POMA is Working for its Members
Let POMA Work for You
Well, that didn’t take long. I just sent in my dues payment and I’ve already seen a 400 percent return on the investment thanks to a tip from the Money Line. Thank you POMA!!!!!!
A POMA Biz Tip allowed me to recoup content that would have taken a monumental amount of time to recreate.
A few weeks ago POMA posted a Biz Tip on how to recover lost files. I printed that up and filed it here at my desk, knowing that chances were that I'd never need it. But I filed it anyway.
Today, I was answering questions for my "Ask Dr Dave About Whitetails" column for www.sportsmansguide.com, and somehow deleted that file from my disk. I had no backup (duh), and even worse, that file contained around 100 past questions that I've been saving to use for a new book I've just started.
Biz Tips to the rescue. In 20 minutes, I was good to go.
Thanks POMA and Biz Tip author PC World Contributing Editor Lincoln Spector!

POMA is amazing. The responsiveness to member needs is unheralded among professional organizations. POMA listens to our clients’ needs and reacts to them. POMA’s commitment to the industry shows at every conference. Our clients can’t afford to not be at the conference each year.
Just a few weeks after the conference, with one project, I was able to generate coverage for six POMA Corporate Partners. And, with the participation of those partners, I was able to write a much more rich and interesting review. Everyone wins, and that demonstrates to me how powerful and beneficial POMA membership is for journalists, manufacturers and organizations.
Technical Content Provider
I’ve learned over the years that the quickest way to get from where you are to where you want to be is to find someone who is already where you want to be and do whatever he or she tells you to do. POMA is the best place to find a mentor to help you become an outdoor communicator, a PR professional, a videographer, a photographer or any other area for communicating the out-of-doors.
I always try to learn from people I believe to be better than me in our craft, and I find those people in POMA.
POMA was founded on the principles that outdoor professionals get together and share ideas, they can help each other make more money. Helping our members make more money is at the very core of our organization.
Book Author, Writer & Photographer
Why do I belong to POMA? The big reason is it doesn’t cost me anything. In fact, membership makes me money. By January 7 of this year, sales through Money Line covered my dues, so any additional income from contacts made through POMA will be pure profit.
Photographer & Writer
I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to have joined POMA. The professionalism and enthusiasm are refreshing.

Hobie has been a POMA Corporate Partner since last summer (2009). Quite honestly, when we first joined, I was not sure how it would work out for a fishing-oriented company like Hobie, but thought that it would be worthwhile to try. Have I ever been pleasantly surprised!
For starters, staff is easy to communicate with and is diligent with follow-up. We all know how important that is. POMA listens to its Corporate Partners. The frequent correspondence with members is useful without being frivolous.
When there was an issue with the expense of the conference for things that Hobie and other supporting members would not be taking advantage of, POMA found a way to work with Corporate Partners and restructure the fees so that they worked well for everyone involved.
As important, we really appreciate the fact that your 2010 summer conference will have water access so that we, along with other "water" products, will have the opportunity to showcase our boats in their own environment. No matter how much we say about our product, there is absolutely nothing like actually letting writers try for themselves.
The most important benefit, though, for Hobie has been the quality of writers that belong to the group. We met some of them at last summer's conference, others via email correspondence, and now look forward to meeting even more at the 2010 conference. The bottom line for all Corporate Partners is "ink" and I think that POMA will prove to be a very valuable conduit to help us do this. The responsibility for exciting members about our product, following up etc. is totally on our shoulders, but POMA gives up the platform.
Thanks for your efforts and I look forward to continuing Hobie's involvement.

POMA generates income for me on an almost weekly basis, in a strange way.
Most members use Money Line as a job and freelance opportunity listing. I use it to generate editorial content ideas, especially for business/trade content buyers. Job listings offer tons of information about challenges faced by companies in our industry. I use those challenges as a basis to develop story ideas to pitch to editors/buyers. Thanks POMA for all you do!
As a full time freelance magazine writer and book author I spend a lot of time alone - in the office, traveling and in remote locations. POMA through its Briefs, Business Conference and webinars offers me a very valuable means of staying in communications/networking with others in my field.
The freelance lifestyle can cause a writer to become set-in-his-ways and stale without regular contact with other professionals. I depend on POMA for much of that contact and it pays off with fresh ideas, new projects, a growing list of professional friends/contacts, writing award opportunities and continuing education.
I can’t image a full time outdoor communicator not being an active member of POMA. In a job that can cut one off from much of the world, POMA brings the outdoor world to you.
