POMA is Working for its Members
Let POMA Work for You
Hobie has been a POMA Corporate Partner since last summer (2009). Quite honestly, when we first joined, I was not sure how it would work out for a fishing-oriented company like Hobie, but thought that it would be worthwhile to try. Have I ever been pleasantly surprised!
For starters, staff is easy to communicate with and is diligent with follow-up. We all know how important that is. POMA listens to its Corporate Partners. The frequent correspondence with members is useful without being frivolous.
When there was an issue with the expense of the conference for things that Hobie and other supporting members would not be taking advantage of, POMA found a way to work with Corporate Partners and restructure the fees so that they worked well for everyone involved.
As important, we really appreciate the fact that your 2010 summer conference will have water access so that we, along with other "water" products, will have the opportunity to showcase our boats in their own environment. No matter how much we say about our product, there is absolutely nothing like actually letting writers try for themselves.
The most important benefit, though, for Hobie has been the quality of writers that belong to the group. We met some of them at last summer's conference, others via email correspondence, and now look forward to meeting even more at the 2010 conference. The bottom line for all Corporate Partners is "ink" and I think that POMA will prove to be a very valuable conduit to help us do this. The responsibility for exciting members about our product, following up etc. is totally on our shoulders, but POMA gives up the platform.
Thanks for your efforts and I look forward to continuing Hobie's involvement.

Maintaining the level of excellence expected of POMA, the 2010 conference speakers are nothing short of top notch. Keynoter, Paul Gillin, leads the corps of media, marketing and business specialists who will speak directly to members' business needs and interests.
In addition, the incredibly popular, hands-on, Bring-Your-Own-Laptop sessions are back on the schedule, and the list of offerings has substantially increased.

South Shore Railway Consider riding the South Shore Railway from the airports to Michigan City. It's the only existing electrically powered interurban commuter rail in the U.S. It runs from South Bend to Chicago approximately every 30 minutes, seven days a week. A stop in Michigan City puts travelers just 15 minutes from the hotel.
If traveling into Michigan City via the South Shore Railway on Tues., Wed. or Sun., transportation to and from the airport will be provided. Yellow Cab taxi service is also now serving the Michigan City area.

In the 1670's, French explorers came to the area that was to later become La Porte County, from the north along the shores of Lake Michigan. This area had long been part of the Pottawatomie Nation which covered the distance from the Wabash River on the south to Lake Michigan on the north. The French explorers and fur traders that passed this way as well as the many settlers that came after them made use of a wide Indian trail that passed through the forest to the next prairie. This opening from forest to prairie was a legendary kind of passageway or door for these early pioneers and the French called this place "La Porte" which is French for "the Door."
Known throughout the nation as the CoHo Capital of the U.S., LaPorte County, Indiana has become famous for its Lake Michigan fishing. But Salmon aren't the only monsters lying in wait off the shores of
Washington Park. Steelhead and Brown Trout, thousands of huge perch and even a large assortment of big bass take up residence on the southern tip of Lake Michigan each year, creating a fisherman's paradise unparalleled in the Midwest. Add to that the beauty of the Indiana Dunes, the county's ample collection of orchards, farms and gardens and
some of the Midwest's largest populations of white tail deer and turkey, and LaPorte County is the perfect spot for the outdoorsman.
